MCAA 2017: REFLECTING ON SUCCESS

on March 16, 2017

This year’s annual MCAA Convention for the Mechanical Contractors Association of America was a huge hit.

There was an extensive menu of educational sessions such as The Cutting Edge:  Finding and Developing Your Next Generation of Leaders, moderated by Mark Breslin.  Guest speakers such as Former Speaker of the House John Boehner, the NFL’s All-Time Leading Rusher, Emmitt Smith, and Oscar and Golden Globe actress Goldie Hawn were a great addition to the event.  There were endless opportunities to network and build relationships within the industry.

Wheatland was one of 135 Manufacturer/Supplier Council member companies that were on hand to share information and answer questions about how our products could help attendees’ companies achieve greater efficiency, enhanced productivity, and increased profitability.

One of the unique aspects to the MCAA that you don’t find at other conventions is the Student Chapter Exhibit Section.  Here, students from top schools in construction management, mechanical engineering and other disciplines related to the mechanical/HVAC industry can showcase projects they are working on to industry professionals.  This year, more than 25 student chapters were represented.

The industry overall tends to think that there is some concern about how to attract the next generation of leaders with regards to this industry, I can tell you first hand that we met and engaged with some amazing students who were very eager to learn more about this industry and get involved through internships or full-time positions with some of the exhibiting supplier companies.

We are looking forward to next year’s convention March 25-29, 2018 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.
