Sharon, PA, August 3, 2011--Wheatland Tube, a division of JMC Steel Group, announced additional details regarding its planned expansion of its DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) Mechanical Tubing product line. Construction is slated to begin in 4th quarter, 2011, with plans to begin producing product in 1st quarter, 2013. Wheatland also confirms that this expansion will lift capacity in its current product offering as well as expand its DOM size range up to 9.000 O.D. (.625” wall thickness). Wheatland’s Church St. (Wheatland, PA) facility will double in size to accommodate these increases.
Wheatland also announced that new MAIR Research drawbench and finishing equipment have been purchased, as part of this project. When the construction and installation is completed, Wheatland will be the most modern DOM facility in North America.
Wheatland’s DOM product is used in a variety of applications - agricultural equipment, automotive parts, hydraulic equipment, fluid power applications, and machined parts.
