On January 4, 2014, when the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act goes into effect, the wetted surface of every pipe, fixture and fitting sold in the United States for use in a potable water system must contain less than 0.25% of lead by weight. Wheatland Tube has achieved third party compliance through Water Quality Associates on its black and galvanized pipe all sizes 1/8” through 6”. Our steel pipe products and galvanized coatings have been fully compliant with the lead requirements of NSF-61 Annex G for more than a decade.
Regulation directly impacts pipe, faucet, boiler and other manufacturers and if you are still unsure how this Act affects your business we have listed a few resources that will provide you with additional information about the NSF-61 regulation and next steps to ensure that your pipe supply complies. If you have any questions, please contact Wheatland Tube directly at (800) 257-8182.
